Tax Administration Jamaica wishes to remind business persons and companies that their fourth quarter instalment of Estimated Income Tax for the assessment year 2012 payment is due on December 15, 2012.
This is in keeping with provisions under the Income Tax Act wherein taxpayers are required to calculate their estimated income and the applicable tax for each year and pay the amount to the tax authority in four (4) quarterly instalments by March 15, June 15, September 15 and December 15 of each year. However this requirement does not apply to persons whose only source of income is from employment and whose taxes are paid under the Pay As You Earn (PAYE) system.
However since the due date falls on a Saturday, the payment date has been extended to Monday, December 17, 2012, without attracting any interest or penalty.
Business persons and companies are reminded that the payments can be made online through the Jamaica Tax Portal at www.jamaicatax-online.gov.jm or at any of the 29 tax offices island wide. Additionally persons are reminded that they may make their estimated quarterly income tax payments at the Portmore Tax Office which opens on Saturdays 10 am – 4 pm.
Business persons are cautioned however that estimated payments received after Monday, December 17 may attract interest and penalty.
