This tax season Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) has been ramping up taxpayer support through its specially designed Special Taxpayer Assistance Programme (STAP) sessions, to meet the specific needs of several business associations and groups as they make preparations to meet their Income Tax filing obligation.
Most recently the tax authority engaged the Realtors Association of Jamaica (RAJ) and the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Jamaica (YEA) on separate occasions to assist their membership with meeting their obligations, as they prepare to file their Annual Income Tax Returns for year of assessment 2017 and Estimated Returns for year of assessment 2018 which becomes due on March 15, 2018.
TAJ personnel fielded questions and provided support through its Tax Spot, helping persons to register to file and pay the easy way with its online services, view live demonstrations as well as get general tax information.
TAJ will continue engaging other select business associations during tax season to bring STAP sessions, to their respective memberships to help them to file online and on time. Other organizations include the Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC) and the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce (JCC), which will benefit from the special support sessions being held.
Taxpayers wishing to avail themselves of these free STAP sessions are asked to take their business documents, such as Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN), bank statements, purchase invoices, expense receipts, sales record, utility bills and any other records that can be used to verify their income and expenses when attending the sessions.
Additionally, individuals and business persons may access STAP sessions which have been scheduled across the island. A list of locations for the sessions may be found on the TAJ website at www.jamaicatax.gov.jm along with other information and documents related to Income Tax.
