Drivers Licence Advisory

Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) wishes to inform the public that they may encounter some inconvenience with the processing of Driver’s Licences at the Revenue Service Centres (RSC). This is due to an unanticipated delay in the delivery of our supplies. TAJ apologises for the inconvenience caused and is working with our overseas suppliers to have the matter speedily resolved.

Due to the incorrect lamination pouches received earlier, supplies were depleted sooner than anticipated. These supplies are done to order and as such turnaround time for manufacture and delivery has resulted in a shortfall. TAJ is expected to have the supplies in the island by mid September.

In the interim individuals will use both their receipts and their expired drivers licence as evidence of renewal. Persons who have renewed their licences will be advised by public notice and telephone when they can return to the Tax Office to complete the process.

Persons applying for New Drivers’ Licence WILL NOT be processed during this period.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force is being advised and will facilitate motorists during this period. As a result motorists are advised to carefully retain their receipt and old drivers’ licence for presentation to the police should they be required to do so.
