Tax Administration Jamaica’s (TAJ) in continuing with its enforcement action brought five St. Catherine Business Persons before the St. Catherine Resident Magistrate Court for failing to file and pay outstanding tax amounts. The tax authority through its Special Enforcement Team (SET) supported by the St. Catherine North Police, conducted enforcement operations in the Linstead, Spanish Town and Green Acres Communities in early July, to arrest delinquent taxpayers for non-payment of outstanding taxes.
Arrested on Warrants of Disobedience for Failure to File Company Tax, were Jung Eun Choi, responsible officer of Real Choice Supermarket Ltd, Maxine Debbie Dean responsible officer of Providence Educational Assessment & Remediation Centre, Kaydene Annabella Ebanks of First- Class Printers and Computer Supplies. Veronica White was also arrested for failing to file Personal Education Tax. They were subsequently granted bail.
Business Person Charmaine White was arrested on a Warrant of Disobedience for failing to pay General Consumption Tax (GCT) for the amount of $184, 685.80, and was also granted bail.
Delinquent taxpayers are advised, that any default on payment arrangements or court orders, will result in enforcement action by TAJ using any of the applicable provisions under the law.
